More than 100 families in Apalit, Pampanga, have received government shelter assistance to help repair homes damaged by recent typhoons and heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat.

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) said the assistance included shelter repair kits (SRKs) and construction materials distributed to affected residents.

Apalit was among the areas in Pampanga hit hard by a series of typhoons and habagat-related rainfall, which damaged homes and left families needing help with repairs.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling said the shelter repair kits contained tools and materials intended to support household recovery. The construction materials included galvanized iron (GI) sheets, plywood, lumber, wires and nails.

“This is in compliance with the order of President Marcos to deliver necessary construction materials and repair kits to help our fellow Kapampangans here in Apalit recover,” Aliling said.

The distribution was part of the celebration of National Shelter Month 2026.

Since the start of October, the DHSUD and its attached agencies have scheduled month-long activities across the country, including housing services and assistance for communities in need.

The initiative aims to help affected families repair damaged homes and recover from the impact of severe weather.
